A Grade II listed former stable sleeping four guests, situated within a few minutes’ walk of Knaresborough town centre in North Yorkshire.

Home from home…

Stepping inside this cottage, guests come directly to the welcoming lounge where they will find two comfortable sofas, and a flame-effect electric fire.

There is plenty to keep guests entertained for a quiet night in with a TV/DVD and a DAB radio as well as a selection of books and games.

In the kitchen/diner there is enough space to comfortably seat four diners, alongside a good selection of equipment including an oven, hob, microwave, and fridge/freezer.

The washing machine and tumble dryer, for those that need to do laundry whilst away, can be found in a separate utility room.

Beautiful bedrooms

Both bedrooms can be found on the first floor, both of which benefit from en-suite facilities. 

The bedrooms are super-king-size rooms, each with zip-and-link beds which can be separated into twins on request.

Bedroom One has an en-suite bathroom with a double-ended bath, handheld shower, and WC.

Bedroom Two, meanwhile, offers an en-suite shower room with a walk-in shower and WC.

Outside & parking

Outside the property there is a courtyard area which is shared with the neighbouring property and which offers a seating area with garden furniture and enough space to store two bikes.

There is off-road parking available for two cars parked tandemly.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

As an individual property, Shire Cottage sleeps 4 guests, equipped with everything you will need, a home from home.

The cottage has a large kitchen with table and chairs, fully equipped including microwave and dishwasher.

Highchair and cot available on request.

Both Dray and Shire have soundproofed internal doors which when unlocked provide accommodation for 8 guests, each room served by its own en-suite.

By special arrangement, there is an option for a further bedroom/shower room with a 4 person hot tub, which is fresh filled.

Ultimately the properties together can provide a spacious 5 bedroom property.

We take 1 well behaved dog in each cottage; pets are not allowed to remain in the cottage unattended unless by prior arrangement with us.

Prices & Booking

Prices vary according to low and high season.

We offer flexible booking in terms of arrival and departure days;
the minimum stay is 3 nights.

Cottages can be accessed from 15.00 and departure is by 10.00 please.

This property is located alongside its sister property in an historic cobbled courtyard which was once home to the prestigious Royal Oak inn, which has since been converted to a private residence.

The town is not only home to a good range of shops and eateries, but also has plenty to offer visitors in the way of tourist attractions including the medieval castle, courthouse museum, Mother Shiptons Cave, and the pretty esplanade which runs alongside the River Nidd.

Just 3.5 miles from Knaresborough the town of Harrogate is well-known for its famous tearooms.
